Kompetensmål
This course is about Leadership and Management as
actions and processes involving everyone at
workplaces, actions socially constructed. Concepts
as, empowerment and organizational citizenship
behavior are used in this course (in Swedish
medarbetarskap). The overall aim with this course
is to develop working collaboration and to enhance
students; ability for becoming reflective
practitioners, more aware of their own behavior,
attitudes and actions and their impact on others
and on the organization. Further, the aim is to
encourage students to analyze and critically
review their practices and set it in a wider
context. Summarizing, this could be achieved by
linking practice with appropriate theories, models
and concepts.
Läranderesultat
At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate
effectively in written and oral presentation
- Develop team-building skills and participate as
a member of a team
- Think critically, plan and carrie out smaller
own project related to management in public sector
applying an understanding of basic social- and
healthcare management
- Understands major challenges public management
in Finland is facing
- Show awareness of how different disciplines
contribute to more generic management tasks and
projects
Innehåll
During this course Arcadas three focus themes: 1)
participation, 2) health-promotion and 3) Safety
issues at workplaces will all be linked to emerged
relevant challenges in Finnish workplaces: a)
gender management, b) diversity management and c)
generational management.
Students then work in smaller groups (3-4/group)
around one topic linking each topic to relevant
literature and to workplaces.
