The aim for this course is for the students to
deeper their knowledge about the managerial
challenges the elderly care in Nordic countries are
facing.
Läranderesultat
The overall objective is that you upon completion
of the course have competences in analysing and
illustrating challenges recognised by managers in
the provision of elderly care. After the course
you should:
Comprehend and explain how professional
individual’s can affect and are affected by
working in organizations, also elderly care
organizations.
Interpret and explain organizational theories with
own words and demonstrate the theories in
empirical settings.
Demonstrate and predict some of the challenges
elderly care from a managerial perspective is
facing in the Nordic counties.
Shows and relates new work organizational
approaches which are needed in order to enhance
employee’s well being and employability.

Learning philosophy
The course builds on each students and collective
critical reflect on prior experience in elderly
care setting. The student has the main
responsibility for her/his own learning but heavy
focus will also be placed on learning in teams.
Assessment
The course has a division of group work (50%) and
an individual work (50%). The assessment of the
course is:
Group presentation max. 40p.
Exam max. 50p.
Good and active presence max. 10
Total 100p.
