Kompetensmål
This course aims to provide students with an opportunity to be acquinted with the basic principles of organising health care and social services in Finland and in Europe.
Läranderesultat
At the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to
- describe and explain the structure and organisation of health care and social services for elderly people in Finland.
- recognize and understand the legal basis for the care and services for elderly people in Finland.
- present different types of care and social services for elderly people in Finland.
- understand and discuss the care and service needs of the elderly and how these needs can be assessed.
- make comparisons between the elderly care system in Finland and in other countries in Europe (in order to demonstrate specific features of the Finnish elderly care model).
- aware of structural changes and future challenges in Finnish elderly care.
