You are able to express yourself in Finnish in the most common everyday situations both orally and in writing. You have a command of simple phrases, basic clauses and vocabulary (CEFR level A1) needed in situations such as introducing yourself and in service encounters. You are familiar with the most essential grammatical features, and can manage with the pronunciation and spelling.

Litteratur

The learning material can be found in the online learning environment Moodle. During the course, both open online materials and teachers' own material are utilized. No textbook is required for the course.

Examinationskrav

This course has 8 learning tasks that are designed to support your learning process and help you achieve the learning outcomes of this course.

Successful passing of the course requires completing all 8 learning tasks with passing grades.

Tasks to be assessed:
1. Identifying phonemes
2. Reacting to greetings and introducing oneself
3. Reading out (personal information and numbers)
4. Listening comprehension (food and drinks)
5. Writing assignment and discussion of your daily routine
6. Text comprehension (family and friends)
7. Discussion and reaction task
8. Activity in the course

Students must do the tasks themselves and any kind of cheating in the learning tasks is prohibited. For example copying a task or producing a text using a translation programme or artificial intelligence is considered cheating. In case of cheating, the learning task in question will be graded failed.
Accepted learning tasks cannot be retaken. A failed task can be retaken once according to a schedule defined by the teacher. Tasks that are graded failed due to cheating, cannot be retaken.

All numerically assessed tasks are evaluated on a scale of 0 to 3. In addition to the above-mentioned tasks, the final assessment of the course is influenced by the student?s activity in the course. Course activity consists of active participation in online meetings and in all the learning tasks of the course.
0: failed - the task has not been done or it does not follow the instructions, the task is not linguistically understandable
1: accepted - the task mainly follows the instructions, but it can be incomplete in content or linguistically
2: good - the task has been done according to the instructions and it is linguistically mainly clear
3: excellent - the task has been done with care according to the instructions and it is linguistically clear and fluent

The course is assessed on a scale 0?5. The final grade is influenced by student?s activity during the course and learning tasks (see above), which are assessed on a scale 0?3.

The student may get a maximum of 24 points for the tasks. The final grade is formed on the basis of points as follows:
0-9 p = 0
10-12 p = 1
13-15 p = 2
16-18 p = 3
19-21 p = 4
22-24 p = 5
