In this study unit we focus on the following

Basic competence in fact-based decision making

Competence in the structure, and functions of
business organisations

Competence in understanding how businesses
contribute to
society

Basic competence in business law

Competence in drafting a business plan

Competence in understanding how businesses manage
their
finances and profitability

Upon completion of this study unit:

You can describe how business activities
contribute to
society and the business owners. (Knowledge)

You can describe the most relevant legal
requirements
for business in Finland. (Knowledge)

You are able to discuss key concepts concerning
the
profitability and financial situation of the
business.
(Skills)

You reflect over the benefits and drawbacks of
different organisational structures. (Approach)

- the purpose of firms and business
- organisation and leadership
- different legal forms of companies and
relevant legislation
- basics of corporate analysis

No prior knowledge required.

The course is taught both in Swedish and in
English.

To pass the course the student needs 50% of the 
total points. The
course can be passed by 
passing two module-exams, each giving 45
points, 
or by passing a final exam giving 90 points. 
Attendance
amounts to 10 points. The module-exams 
are one chance only, for the
final exam there 
are re-exams.
