-To understand and use SolidWorks design capabilities.
-To produce professional engineering reports.

Läranderesultat

-Use solid modeling software (SolidWorks) to create 3D solid models from orthographic engineering drawings.
-To create assembly models of engineering components using solid modelling software.
-To create engineering orthographic and isometric drawings from solid models of engineering components.
-To perform stress analysis of engineering components using simulation application.

-Working with planes and sketches.
-Lofts, swepts and revolved sections.
-Patterns.
-Simulation and Analysis.
-Configurations.
-Surface Modelling and Assemblies.

2nd week: Working with planes and sketches. Week 2 from Weekly tips and exercises. Idler arm tutorial.

3rd week: Lofts, swepts and revolved sections. Week 3 from Weekly tips and exercises.

4th week: Patterns. Week 4 from Weekly tips and exercises. Modelling a dice. Begin Assignment 1.

5th week: Simulation and Analysis. Week 5 from Weekly tips and exercises.

6th Week: Configurations. Week 6 from Weekly tips and exercises.

7th Week+: Surface Modelling and Assemblies. Week 7 from Weekly tips and exercises. Assignment 2.

Förkunskaper

The CAD course is required. Students are assumed to be able to produce orthographic drawings using engineering software such as AutoCAD when they begin.

Course limit: 45 students due to size of computer class. If the limit is reached, students who
do not have this course as a mandatory part of their curriculum in the given period and year may take the course via independent learning using the available online resources.

All deadlines dates must be met. Students not submitting assessment work by the deadline dates will be removed from the course.

Litteratur

Follow the weekly in class exercises and tutorials from the course's weekly exercises and tips folder found in itslearning.

Students may choose to watch the SolidWorks 2018 Essential Training in the first week of class. There is also an optionally SolidWorks Student Self Study Curriculum provided in itslearning that may be followed.

It is also recommended to watch "Word Creating Long Documents" at lynda.com. This will explain how to automatically insert citations, references, captions, table of contents and section numbers to your report.

Examinationskrav

Assessment:
-Submission of the "Introduction to SolidWorks Tutorial" (10%)
-Submission of Assignment Design of a Chair (90%). Note Urkund will be used to analyze these reports for similarity. Correct scientific writing skills are a very important consideration in the assessment. It is not based on just the engineering design work.
-There is no compulsory attendance of lectures for this course. Although attendance is recommended, students may choose to complete all work entirely individually also.
-Passed assignment marks can not be improved by resubmitting marked reports.

60-69 Grade 2 Satisfactory
70-79 Grade 3 Good

90-100 Grade 5 Excellent
