The learning competences associated to this course are critical meta-competences: necessary for the formation of individual, knowledge-based opinions on current affairs, independently from the specific professional domains or vocational competences.

As "preparing for the future" is a core ideal in Arcada strategy, this course offers students the conceptual tools to understand the past and to prepare for the future. In this course, students will learn to interpret the role of the social forces involved in the history of digitalization, from its inception to our days.

The main content of the course consists in an organized review of the main approach to digitalization and its impact on society

Fluency in spoken and written English

To pass the course the student needs to attend 60% of classes and actively participate to discussions in class.

To pass the course the student needs to attend a minimum of 6 lectures out of 10, actively participate to discussions in class and write an essay. The final grade will be based on the final essay.
