In this study unit the focus will be for you to
build the following
competences:

- Competence in managing and expanding a business
in changing conditions.
- Understanding the Nordic business environment,
and differences between Nordic countries
- Competence in international business conduct,
spoken and written business communication,
teamwork

After completing the study unit, you:
(knowledge)

- obtain relevant information about new markets
and businesses.
- Know how to find and analyse relevant data
- understand the importance of adopting high
standards in conduct and communication, e.g.,
developing awareness/sensitivity regarding:
1) cultural differences in conduct and
communication,
2) the degree of formality/informality in
different forms of interaction,
3) codes of conduct in different situations, and
4) deadlines and agreements, reciprocal
expectations

-can conduct business and environment analysis.
-can build networks and communicate professionally
and appropriately with various counterparties.
-develop presentation skills.
-adopt a polite and polished style of written and
spoken communication.

-increase your awareness of and adopt a
sensitivity towards differences in the code of

sources of information throughout the course.

1. Economic reports by national authorities and
research institutions
2. Regional reports by Nordic and International
bodies
3. Scientific articles on the region as well as
on relevant theories and methods
4. Methodological guidelines produced by
lecturer

To pass the course the student should do
individual assignments as well as produce in a
team a project report.

Some assigment will be also orally

presented in class.

Group assignment points and individual

assignments points (with separately defined

deadlines during course) will be outlined in the

course introduction materials.

For to pass the course 50% of points in all

assignments needed.
