Kompetensmål
The aim of the course is to give ability to apply
chemical laws and theories in solving and
understanding different problems found in science
and engineering.
Läranderesultat
At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to understand the most
important and relevant concepts used in
chemistry-related fields and to apply the
facts, concepts and models of chemistry
appropriately in engineering.
Innehåll
The lectures will cover the following topics:
Molecules and compounds
Chemical Reactions and Quantities
Introduction to Solutions and Aqueous Reactions
Intermolecular Forces
Reaction kinetics
Electrochemistry and Corrosion
The classroom calculation exercises will cover
the same topics as the lectures. There will be no
lab exercises due to COVID-19 pandemic
restrictions.

Lecture material provided in itslearning.
Much of this course is based upon three
textbooks Tro's "Chemistry: Structure and
properties" (Pearson), Shackelford's
"Introduction to materials science and
engineering" (Pearson) and Callister's
"Materials science and engineering" (Wiley).
