Kompetensmål

The student is expected to be able to produce parts by 3D printing and to understand the possibilities for product development in the new world of 3D printing.

Läranderesultat

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:

Use a mobile phone for 3D scanning of parts.

Print parts using a MakerBot 3D printers.

Use Autodesk's ReCap and Meshmixer for preparing scanned photos for 3D printing.

participate in group work with other students in the development of a product for 3D Printing.

Produce high quality essays.

Förkunskaper

Solid Modelling. Students are required to model parts for printing using SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD software.

The student is required to sign up to a group for the poster presentation within the first two weeks and to participate in group work.

The course requires the students to obtain over 50% in total.

70% - Product Development of part for 3D printing - Group Report (40%) + Poster Innovation Day (30%). Sign up at start of course to group.

30% - Essay based on "Fabricated - The New World of 3D Printing", by Lipson and Kurman found in Ebook Central.
