Information regarding your Arcada IT-Account
Important information about your IT-account
As an Arcada student, you will have a user account consisting of a username (login) and a password.
You are personally responsible for the user account and password. By using Arcada's IT-services you confirm that you have read and agreed to the IT rules and policies. In case the user should break the law or Arcada's IT rules, the IT unit has the right to immediately lock the user account for a maximum period of two months.
Your account will be valid throughout your entire study time at Arcada. The account will be disabled 30 days after the study right has terminated.
Your Arcada user account and password should not be used to sign up to other web pages or IT services outside Arcada.
Please note that you may under no circumstances hand out your user name or password to anyone, not even IT-personnel or administrators. IT does not require or ever will ask your Password to fix anything in your Account.
Activation of your user account
For using Arcada’s IT Services and Education tools, you will get your own personal IT User Account. When you accept your study place in Arcada, a User Account is automatically created for you in our system. All you need to do then is to activate it and set up a password.
Activation and modification of your account is done through Arcada Account Services (AAS) External link.
You can use a Netbanking authentication service of any Finnish bank, a Finnish electronic ID, a mobile certificate, or an active user account at some other Finnish university through Haka login to log into AAS.
AAS uses the Suomi.fi service to verify your identity, this service is used nationally.
The service has some limitations regarding inactivity so it's best to decide on a good password before logging in.
For persons that are unable to verify their identity using Suomi.fi we employ the identification service Candour.

Support sessions, Introduction days 2025
Support sessions for activating user accounts will be held during the introduction days.
Please try to activate your account yourself before attending the support sessions.
Times and dates will be announced at a later date.
Services
- Do you want to change your password? - Go to AAS External link, log in and choose Change password
- Have you forgotten your password? - Go to AAS External link and choose Reset Password.
- Do you need to acquire an Arcada IT-account and password? - Go to AAS External link and choose to Activate IT account
We recommend that you enable Multi-Factor Authentication after activating your account.
Your files
Arcada provides students and staff mainly two ways of saving their works.
Microsoft OneDrive
Microsoft OneDrive External link is a cloud service that is maintained by Microsoft and your files are stored on their servers somewhere in the world.
The files on OneDrive are accessible through your web browser, i.e. easily from anywhere. You can also access the files directly from the Office-programs if you are logged in with your account.
Home drive
The Homedrive (H-drive) is a drive that you can access from all of Arcadas computers. It has a storage capacity of 80GB and is automatically mounted when you log in. To reach these files from home, pleace follow the instructions on H-drive & the intra-server.
Your Windows profile
Your settings for each software will be saved in your Windows profile. Which means that you will have the same settings on all Arcada computers.
Please note there is no backup on your Windows profile.

Your personal information
As a student you are obliged to keep your address, phone number and other information up to date.
Students can update their information through SISU - The Study System. Instructions can be found on the page Check your personal information
Student affairs office will help you update information that you cannot edit yourself.
When you leave Arcada
When you finish your studies or your employment on Arcada, the IT-account (incl. email address) will be closed in 30 days. Therefore it is good to:
- Go through all your email
- Save a local copy of your Arcada email (if needed)
- Save your email contacts (if needed)
- Change your email information on various internet services
- Inform your colleagues about your new contact information
- Save files from the H-drive
- Save files from OneDrive
- Save material from itslearning
Reactivation of your account
Your user account will be reactivated if you return to Arcada as a student or start to work at Arcada.
If there is a need to reactivate your account for another reason (for example to recover lost files) you will need to pay a reactivation fee of 50€. Reactivation can be done only once and will give access for 5 days so that you can retrieve your materials.
Please note that files and emails in Office365 can be restored up to 90 days after the account has been closed.
Files are permanently deleted after 90 days and can no longer be recovered.

Registration for the academic year and right to study
When you have been accepted as a student at Arcada you have to confirm that you accept your study place to get the right to study.Your right to study for a bachelor’s or master’s degree at a university of applied sciences is granted by the Rector.
