Competency aims

The aim is that the student after completing the course has deepened his/her knowledge of habilitation for children and youth. The aim is also that the student has a broader understanding of multiprofessional work.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, you should have:
Module 1:
- skills to initiate, develop and critically evaluate multiprofessional work
- competences to realize goal-directed work based on the person´s developmental needs and context
- ability to promote function, activity and participation for children and youth with disabilities
- knowledge of Conductive Education as a learning method

Module 2:
- acquire project knowledge within the context of the course

Course contents

The course contains of two modules, each 5 sc:
1) Habilitation for children and youth. The module is mainly realized in a special school for children and youth with disabilities.
2) Project work in relation to module 1.

Additional information

Tis is the course, where you have the possibility to combine theory and practice in a work place. Part one, will be conducted at a special school, where you have the posiibility to work close to the children, youth and staff.
The course is held in Swedish, English and Finnish. Observe that you should know some Finnish to be able to communicate with the children at the special school(!)

Presence is compulsory during the visits to the special school in Module 1.

Assessment requirements

Every module will be examined separately:
1. module: Active participation in the multiprofessional teamwork at the special school (including supervision at Arcada), passed written tasks and participation and oral presentation in the seminar.
2. module: Passed project report.

In module 1 the multiprofessional teamwork process and the presentation in the seminar are evaluated with passed/failed and the written task graded 0-5.
In modul 2 the project is graded as passed/failed.
