Competency aims

The aim of the course for the student is
to

  1. have knowledge on the contents and the performing of the health-examinations of children age 0-7
  2. have knowledge on common health-related topics, the development of a child and the challenges of family-life and how to support families.
  3. be familiar with the most common pediatric diseases in out-patients care and topics on nutrition and be able to identify and guide patients and clients based on that.(background- and riskfactors, diagnosing, care)
    4)to handel to National vaccination program and be able to guide on the contents of it and to guide on other topics on vaccinations.
    up health and development of children age 0-7.
  • know the contents of a post partum check on
    women

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to

  • follow up children´s health and development
  • be familiar with methods and networks on family-support
  • be able to adjust guidance for the family according to recommendations on nutrition, rest, play and oral hygiene
  • to have an immersed knowledge of the common diseases among children in out-patients care.
  • to be alble to assess the need for care and support.
  • to be able to guide the family on the care on dieseases.
  • know and implement the Finnish vaccination-
    programme, the side-effects and contraindications of vaccines
  • to have an vaccine-ethical awareness

Extended course on vaccination knowledge 1cr
