Competency aims

This course serves to deepen the theoretical
knowledge in the pathophysiology of human
diseases as applied in the clinical context,
focusing on patient safety. It also function as a
base for succeeding courses in clinical nursing.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students are expected to
be able to:
-discuss the etiology, signs and symptoms,
complications and prognosis of the most common
diseases.
-identify appropriate diagnostic examinations for
the most common diseases
- explain the treatment alternatives, their
mechanisms, including risk, side-effects and
prognosis
-use the Metacognitive cycle to assess their
learning experience

Course contents

In this course learners are exposed to central
issues relating to clinical physiology in
different contexts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

The student must have passed the following
courses:
Nursing and midwife program, Anatomy and
physiology;
Medicine 1, Clinical care I and II.
Physical therapy and Occupational therapy
students; Anatomy and physiologyand Medicin I

Additional information

To accomplish this course students will:
-attend the Introduction lecture
-participate in each module through the online
learning platform skhole.
-pass quizzes for each module by receiving a
grade
of 60% or higher.
-attend the final examination and pass the final
exam
by receiving a grade of 60% or higher.

NOTE: There will be components of this course
conducted in the English language.
