In this study unit we will focus on the following

The aim of the course is to provide competence
for social pedagogues in Early Childhood Education
and Care
with children under the age of 5.

Once you have completed the study unit you will
have? 
 Knowledge: 
You can on an in-depth level account for theories
about the
child's development and well-being. 

You can analyze and critically examine theories
about
interaction, communication, group dynamics and
group processes
in the context of early childhood education.

You are able to explain at a deeper level how to
identify
children's social pedagogical needs and how to
support
children's development and learning through play. 

You can explain different pedagogical
orientations. 

You can critically examine the service systems
that supports the social
security of families. 

You can explain the importance of the governing
documents'
view of children and values, as well as
legislation that has
impact on early childhood education.

 Skills: 
You can dialogically respond to and respect the
child as an
active player and as part of a larger network. 

You can together with the family reflect on their
situation
and identify the child's and family's need of
support and
service. 

You have the ability in the interprofessional team
to support,
guide and promote the children?s´ and families´
opportunities
for change, considering their resources.

The course is primarily intended for students
who pursue degree in social pedagogues in Early
Childhood Education
and Care with children under the age of 5.
Students
should have completed at least 100 ECTS / 2
years of study within the social education
program in order to participate.
