Competency aims

To support the student to purposefully, responsibly and successfully be able to study at Arcada and get a foundation for his/hers career building. Following generic competences are emphasized in the course: - Learning competence - Digital literacy - Global competence - Ethical competence - Communicative and social competence

Learning outcomes

Learning competence - To have a realistic understanding of the own higher education learning and the importance of lifelong learning - To know about different tools, methods and study activities that supports a target- oriented learning - To understand the importance of collaboration for better learning - To be familiar with your studies and reflect upon the objectives of your studies - To be familiar with your profession and get an insight in the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed in your professional life. Digital literacy - To understand the importance of developing your digital competence and information competence - To get the skills to independently solve issues concerning digital information, communication and content creation - To master the most basic digital tools and function so that you can be able to study, communicate and create digital content Global competence - To be open minded and see the strength of cultural diversity Ethical competence - To integrate ethical principles of good scientific practice in the studies at Arcada Communicative and social competence - To be able to share insights with others and argue for their opinions - To use the writing guide in written work
