Due to the global energy crisis, it is necessary to prepare for both planned and unplanned power outages this winter. Please read Arcada's instructions carefully.
This information prepares you for possible power outages at Arcada. We also provide information continuously through several communication channels if/when a power outage occurs.
The probability of an interruption depends on the weather and electricity production. In the event of a power shortage, consumption could be reduced by pre-planned power outages of up to two hours at a time, but power outages can also happen without warning.
Campus
During power outages, ventilation and lighting in the Arcada building will not work. The water will not work either, which means you will not be able to use the taps or toilets. The lifts are also out of order. Your flex key stops working, but you can always get out of the building.
Arcada's IT services are affected during a power cut. There may be problems when logging in and using tools where you log in with your Arcada login details, such as your email, Asta or itslearning. Be sure to save documents you're working on and download files you need in case you can't access the cloud services. During a longer power outage, all services will be unavailable after approximately 1.5-2 hours.
Planned power outages
Avoid coming to Arcada’s campus during a planned power outage. We aim to communicate about possible power outages in advance. You will receive information via Start, Tuudo and by email.
We encourage everyone to use the Tuudo application, which will be an important communication channel to quickly reach out with information and situation updates.
In case of a planned power outages, the aim is to maintain normal operations to the extent possible. For example, teaching may be held online or at another time before or after the power outage. Teachers will inform you of any exceptional arrangements.
Unexpected power outages
In the event of an unexpected power outage, you do not need to leave the building immediately, but follow your teacher's instructions and the information given over the speaker system and in other communication channels. If possible, stay where you are.
If the power outage lasts longer than 2 hours, all activities on campus will end and the Arcada building closes.
Recurring planned or unexpected power outages
In an extra challenging situation where the power is threatened to be out repeatedly over a short period of time, you will receive separate instructions.
If you have questions, please contact Arcada communications.
