The aim of the course is to give the student basic
knowledge of the Swedish language and how to use
it in everyday situations.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge ? what you know

You have knowledge about the basis in Swedish.

You have a small vocabulary for introducing
yourself and for talking about everyday life. You
are developing previous skills.

You know basic grammar in Swedish. New topics in
this course are plural forms of the nouns, past
tense of the verbs. You can use adjectives as
predicative in sentences.

You are somewhat acquainted with the culture in
Swedish and have some knowledge about traditions
in the Nordic countries.
Skills ? what you can do

You can read and understand simple texts and
dialogues about familiar topics.

You can use simple phrases and sentences to talk
about myself and everyday events in my life, both
in present tense and past tense.

You can communicate in simple situations about
everyday life. I can ask and answer questions and
use polite expressions.

You can write simple notes and messages. You can
e.g., write a simple personal letter, for example
setting an appointment or thanking someone for
something.

You are increasing your vocabulary, you can ask
for and give directions, you are able to set a
date, talk about the weather, the weekdays, months
and the seasons

You can orally handle easy situations such as
ordering in a restaurant or buying something in a
store

You can catch the main point in simple speech when
people speak slowly and clearly.
Attitude

In order to learn a new language, you need to
repeat a lot and practice talking with the study
group and get feedback from the teacher.
Therefore, attendance in class is mandatory.

Culture and the Nordic countries

Prerequisites and co-requisites

You can take this course after Swedish for
Beginners 1 or an equivalent course. The starting
level is CEFR A1.1.
