Competency aims

The aim of the course is that the student has
knowledge about different types of practical
models for occupational therapy in psychiatric
care and is able to use them both with
individual patient and in group sessions.
Student also know how the psychiatric conditions
affect
occupational behavior. The aim is also to give
the student knowledge how to meet the psychiatric
patient
in an ethically right manner and understand the
definition and practice of Occupational
Justice.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to:
- describe how the psychiatric- and addiction
problem is interfering with activity and
participation and
how this occupational performance affects on
the persons mental health
- choose and use propitiate frame of
reference/model/method for the OT process.
- motivate reasoning and choice of assessment
tool/method in the assessment process within
Occupational Therapy in mental health services
- clinically reason though out the planning and
the goal setting phases in the OT-process and
use the perspective of 'Occupational justice'
in given case context
- use an evidence based approach when working
with persons suffering from mental health
issues
- be able to plan, carry through and evaluate
a group sessions and motivate for the activity
used, when the aim is to facilitate mental
health process.

Additional information

All workshops and other practical parts are
compulsory.
Absence will be compensated by an article report
on the
topic dealt with. One report/ absent workshop.
Seminars are compulsory.
