The aim of the course is to give the student basic
skills in business mathematics and statistics.

After the course the student is expected to
-master percentage calculations
-understand how the value added tax is
calculated
-understand how indexes are calculated and what
they are used for
- know how to perform interest and currency
calculations
- be familiar with different types of credit
forms and ways to perform investment
calculations
- understand the basics of price setting
- understand basic statistical concepts and
methods and
- know how to use SPSS for some elementary
statistical data processing

The course program, how we work on the course,
and the contents of the course can be found in
the course compendium (Part 1) which can be
downloaded from Itslearning.

Math drop in will be hold during the course: you
are welcome to come ask questions, work on the
exercises and get help. The time table will be
available when the course starts.

Attending the lectures is warmly recommended -
for many students a necessity for passing the
course - but not mandatory.

To pass the course, each part of the course must
be separately passed, hence you need a minimum
of 25 (of 50) points in the math exam, and a
minimum of 25 (of 50) points in the statistics
exam.
Bonus points for practice exams in mathematics
(max 4 points) will be added to mathematics exam
points. Bonus points for the practice exam in
statistics (max 2 points) and points for a
voluntary statistics assignment (max 10 points)
are added to statistics exam points.
