Competency aims
To give students the ability to communicate using international drawing methods and standards.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course,the student should be able to:
-Produce 2D orthographic engineering drawings of 3D parts using AutoCAD software.
-Produce isometric drawings of engineering components.
-Define and use engineering standards in the production of engineering drawings.
-Produce Developments for the production of standard shapes.

- Introduction to drawing and Orthographic projection
- AutoCAD set-up and commands, Orthographic
- Editing entities in AutoCAD,
- Isometric and Oblique drawings.
- Sectional Views
- Auxiliary Views.
- Dimensions and title blocks in AutoCAD.
- True Length Lines and Developments
- The use of Inkscape (optional)

Additional information
Although the attendance of weekly lectures is recommended, it is not compulsory. Students may thus choose to complete all work (except the final exam/re-exam) at home.

20% - Assignment 1 - Orthographic Projection, Compulsory
Final Exam/Re-exam (80%) - Completed at Arcada. A mark of at least 40/80 is needed.

GRADING: The final grade is based on the sum of all assessment tasks.

Re-exam 1 gives all students an opportunity to improve their grade whether they sat the normal final exam or not. Non attendance of a re-exam is counted as one opportunity. Re-exam 2 is only for students who did not pass the first normal exam. Previous years assignments are not valid for students retaking the course.
