Competency aims
The purpose of the practical training is to
provide the
student with the possibility to apply from the
education
gathered knowledge and skills in working life and
become
familiar with central tasks within the specific
area of the field
in question. The main purpose of the practical
training is to
build an understanding of the connection of
theory and
practice, and to through examples see how theory
is applied
in practice.
Course contents
The responsibility for determining and assessing
the
practical training performance of the students
lies with the
teacher team. The basic guideline is that 15 ects
of general
practical training (training period 1) and an
additional
minimum of 15 ects of specialisation according to
competence field (training period 2) are needed.
As practical
training work within fields related to the
vocational studies,
such practical training that develops the
professional
competence, can be accepted.

Assessment requirements
After performed practical training the employer
should write
a practical training certificate (employment
certificate) from
which appears the length of the employment and
the tasks
and assignments are described in detail, in case
of part-time
employment, the number of working hours should be
stated.
In order to receive the practical training as
part of the
studies, students should submit an application
for practical
training using this form.
The certificate is submitted with the application
together
with a practice period report. We also recommend
that
students keep a diary of their practical
training. The diary
facilitates reflections when the report is
written.
