Competency aims
The aims of the course are that the student
- is able to describe Gerontology as a research
field of social work
- has elementary knowledge of physical aspects of
ageing; the physical and cognitive impacts of
ageing
-has elemntary knowledge of drug treatment
- has theoretical and practical knowledge of
different activities for older adults in health
promotion,prevention and and rehabilitation.
Additionally the student has knowledge in
different methods of sociocultural inspiration
among older people
- is able to support older people into creative
activity in daily life
- has elementary knowledge in professional
interaction and dialogue with older adults
- is able to make ethical reflections and
recognitions about the older adult as a client and
the client´s security
- is able to show evidence of observation
abilities, reflections, data collection and data
processings considering individual scientific
writing
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is expected
to understand the purpose of Gerontology as a
research field. The student understands
challenges within Elderly care and has insight in
older people´s living conditions.
