The aim of this course is that you acquire skills and competencies
that will help you to study purposefully, independently and
successfully at Arcada, and to develope in your in your career
management.

Learning competence:
*You create a realisitc understanding of the requirements of studying
at University level
*You learn to use different approaches and strategies to develop your
learning skills
*You learn how to be slef-directed, i.e. to without external reminders
or control, be able to organize and maintain motivation for your
studies and to take responsibility for getting started and following
through matters concering yourself and your studies
*You are familiar with the meaning of lifelong learning in relation to
your career management
*You know what kind of support and service Arcada offers

Digital competence:
*You get an idea of what digital competence means and the
importance of developing the competence during your studies
*You develop the ability to independently solve problems and
challenges you face regarding digital information, communication and
production
*You learn how to master the most basic tools and features for study,
communication and content creation during your studies

Information literacy:
*You will be accquainted with Arcada's library and learn the basics of
information retrieval to independently search for reliable scientific
information and literature for your studies, e.g. course books and
scientific articles in the field of study
*You gain skills in how to evaluate and use the information you find,
e.g. how to refer to literature and research in your work without
risking violation or plagiarism

*You are introduced to scientific writing
