The general aim of the course is to provide the
student with support and tools to purposefully
and successfully study at Arcada.

The following general competencies are
emphazised:

- learning competence
- digital literacy
- global competence
- ethical competence
- communication and social competence

At the end of the course students are expected
to:
- understand that studying is a lifelong learning
process
- know how to use the Arcada information channels
- understand the importance of team work
- be acquainted to his/hers studying plan,
profession and reflect over what the goals of
the studies are
- know different tools, methods and studying
forms that support
outcome oriented learning

Digital literacy

- understand the importance to develope and
strengthen once digital competence during the
studies
- develope skills to be able to handle
different forms of digital challenges
- have a good command over the basic digital
tools and functions

Global competence
- be open to and see the strength in
multiculturalism

Ethical competence
- understand good scientific practice and how to
study at Arcada

Communication and social competence
- be able to share and argue once opinions
- be able to use the Arcada thesis writing guide
