Competency aims

The aim of the course is reaching
a deeper understanding of different qualitative methodologies and methods in health promoting research.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
- have the ability to read and analyze scientific articles, rapports and thesis with a qualitative approach within the field of health promotion.
- realize the meaning of methodologies and of choosing methods in the purpose of developing knowledge
- have the ability to independently plan and implement a qualitative research design
- understand the meaning of ethical view in research
- understand the meaning of scientific dialogs and argumentation within health promotion research
- ability in writing and presenting scientific texts.

Course contents

The theory of methodology in human science and methods. Different methodologies: hermeneutics,
narratives, phenomenology, concept analyzes and other methodologies central in health promotion research.
Data collecting methods, analyzes and interpretation in different qualitative designs with focus on application research. Trustworthiness
within different methodologies.
