Competency aims

The aim of the course is to:
- assess own knowledge of vaccination and your willingness to develop as a vaccinator.
- know the importance of vaccinations for the individual, the environment and society and you can also justify it.
- know which diseases are prevented by vaccination and can describe symptoms, care instructions and complications.
- know how induced immunity is build up.
- have knowledge of different vaccine types and know the basics of the composition of the vaccine.
- be able to explain what the national vaccination programme is and how the legislation regulates it
- know which vaccines are included in the national vaccination program.
- to be able to assess the pros and cons of vaccinating or not vaccinating when the deciding
whether vaccination should be taken.
- be able to guide the client with the support of the latest evidence-based knowledge.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to:
- be able to make an assessment on your own knowledge of vaccination and your willingness to develop yourself as a vaccinator.
- know the importance of the vaccinations for the individual, the environment and society and you can also justify it.
- know which diseases are prevented by vaccination and can describe symptoms, care instructions and complications.
- know how induced immunity is build up
- have knowledge of different vaccine types and know the basics of the composition of the vaccine.

- assess the advantages and disadvantages of vaccinating or not vaccinating when the decision is taken
whether vaccination should be taken.
