Once you have completed the study unit:

You can define the whole of the internal medicine
patient's problems, including underlying causes
and its consequences. You can describe how to
assess care needs, perform and evaluate care in
varying care environments for patients within the
internal medicine care. You identify the meaning
of safety culture in healthcare. You can account
for medication administration of the internal
medicine patient (Knowledge)

You can plan and apply care actions within the
internal medical care based on the patient's needs
and current care recommendations. You can apply
the safety culture in healthcare. You can use the
knowledge of drug treatment for the care of the
internal medicine patient (Skill)

Course contents

- Package 1 Anatomy, physiology and
medicine: tissues and skin, blood and immune
system, nervous system, sensory organs, body
homeostasis, respiratory tract infections,
cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease,
meningitis and encephalitis, Parkinson's disease,
anaphylaxis, sepsis, viral hepatitis,
pancreatitis, venous thrombosis and pulmonary
embolism
- Package 2 Medication administration and
medication calculation of the internal medicine
patient: medication groups,
adverse effects and anaphylaxis, pharmacology of
the aging patient, medication administration
- Medication calculation, part 2: injections
(i.m
and i.v.), infusions and addition and preparation
of medicines, infusion rate, dilutions
- Package 3 Internal medicine care:
respiration and circulation, ECG, patient
assessment, infectious diseases and laboratory
tests, endocrinological patient, geriatric
patient, neurological patient
- Practical exercises: intravenous
cannulation, intramuscular injections, infusions
and addition of medication, ECG, catheterization,
oxygen therapy
- Simulation: The care process for the
internal medicine patient, aseptics, patient
encountering, teamwork, patient assessment,
medication administration
- Workshops: anatomy and physiology and
medication calculation
