Competency aims

The aim of the course is that the student
understands
the possibilities of exercise testing and
training
when developing different physical qualities of
the
individual in order to perform in the best
possible
way from the physiological point of view. The
student
can plan, execute and assess an exercise training
and
physical testing event for a given target group
in
sports. The student is aware of the basic values
and
ethical principles in anti-doping. The student
learns
to work both independently and in a group, search
for, critically evaluate and deal with
information
and develop him/herself in his/her own expert
area in
sports.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to
- Understand the testing and training of
different
physical performance qualities, their training
principles and the connections between different
physical performance qualities on a deeper and
broader physiological level.
- Know how different environmental conditions can
affect sports performance.
- Be aware of ethical principles in anti-doping.
- Plan, execute and assess exercise training and
physical testing according to the goals in
sports.
- Find and utilize scientific information in
order
to motivate his/her choices in exercise testing
and
training.

Assessment requirements

The final course grade will be determined by part
one of the course which consists of a group
assignment (teoretical and practical). The
student must also take part into the compulsory
lectures of the course and pass and hand in (in
time) all the assignments. The assignments will
have
a neutral (±0) or increasing (+1) effect on the
final grade.
