Within this study unit we lay the basics for the
following
competencies:

Caring Science
Caring ethics
Research, development and innovation (FUI
competence)

Research and research skills are essential to
achieve SDGs 4, 5 and 9, which focus on inclusive
and equitable educational opportunities, gender
equality and sustainable and innovative industrial
development. 

Research also focuses on how to promote innovation
and entrepreneurship in a sustainable way, and how
to use technology and innovation to create social
and economic development in an inclusive way.  By
increasing our research skills and knowledge in
these areas, we can make informed decisions and
take actions that really make a difference for a
more sustainable future.

Learning outcomes

Once you have completed the study unit:

You can identify the theory of caring science and
can argue for its importance in the reality of

and thought models as a basis for professional

- Basics of research methods
- The basics of scientific writing and
utilizing relevant databases and keywords to find
scientific knowledge

Assessment requirements

To pass the course the student should pass the
following examinations:
Examination 1: Caring theorist (individual
assignment)
Examination 2: Compiled knowledge overview (group
assignment)
The information search and the task is
obligatory.

The examinations contribute to the final grade
as follows:
Examination assignments 1 and 2 are assessed
numerically at scale 1-5. They both make up 50% of
the course grade.
The task in the information search is assessed
pass/fail.
