The aim of the course is:

- update clinical nursing skills suitable for
Finnish
health care context (hospital units, specialised
health care and home care.

- Understand the Finnish health care system from
a holistic perspective, is able to work in an
aseptic
way and be able to prioritise nursing tasks
according to patient needs.

- Feel confident in implementing previous nursing
skills in the Finnish health care system.

At the end of the course:

LEARNING OUTCOMES for the first hospital
practical training

- The student is expected to know how to
document and give report of a patient

- The student is able to use different health care
recommendations and manuals

- Student is expected to know basic care (eg.
aseptic, patient's personal hygiene, nutritional
supply, observation of patient vital life
functions)

- The student knows and is able distribute
medicine correctly (s.c, i.m, i.v, per os.)

- The student is able to choose correct care form
and care plan based on the patient?s needs and
symptoms

- The student is able to guide the patient
according to his or her care process (such as pre-
and post-operative care, admitting and
discharging

LEARNING OUTCOMES for the practical training
in specialized health care

- The student is expected to be able to
understand different aspects of nursing and
actively use all knowledge he/she has of nursing

- The student is able to understand the needs and
methods for health promotion, rehabilitative care
and leadership to promote health in different
nursing contexts

- The student is able to plan and put into
practice
the care of the patient/client in different
nursing
contexts

- The student is able to document the nursing
care in the way of the unit he/she is working in
demands

LEARNING OUTCOME for home care

- The student is expected to be familiar with home
care as a working field

- The student knows who the most relevant
collaborators are within home care and knows
which occupational groups are part of the home
care team

- The student participates in home care staff
meetings and can see the connection between
the administrative work and the practical field
work

- The student practices skills that are of
relevance
for the nurse/public health nurse in home
care/outpatient care

- The student is able to vary his/her way of work
depending on the client's age and cultural
background

- The student can plan, carry out and evaluate a
home care visit, prioritize the need of care,
estimate and document the need of nutrition,
hygiene, mobility and need for pharmaceuticals

- The student is able to carry out a home visit
independently

5 week practical training at a hospital ward/unit
(vuodeosasto)

- 5 weeks practical training at specialised health
care units

- 4 weeks home care

The student must have a previous nursing degree
from abroad

The practical placements are reserved by
Jobiili
and during the time they are in the curriculum.

The place should be booked at least 2 weeks
before the start of the practice so there is
time to confirm the place.

Confirmed practical training place must be
cancelled 2 weeks before the start in case of
that student cannot attend the training.

The CV needs to be updated before reservations.

Inform the teacher that you are going to
practical training.

An accomplished practical training with all
assignments required have to be done and submitted
within 12 month after the practical training is
over. After that the practical training is
outdated and needs to be re-done.

Exeptions:
If it has been over two years since one or more
of the required prerequisite courses have been
completed, the student should demonstrate
sufficient knowledge before participating in
the course by participating in the course or the
practical exercises of the course with approved
results. "
