Competency aims
Students will develop skills in mould design that comprises of several component designs including cavity, cooling channel, ejection and clamping system and more. The part modelling is equipped with simulation studies in Moldflow to verify the design process.
-In addition, students will develop a capability of analysing the mechanical and rheological behaviour of polymers. This is fulfilled through practical testing of mechanical behaviour of polymers; and in-depth analyses/calculations/ of Newtonian and shear-thinning viscosity models in circular and parallel plates flow.
Learning outcomes
-Students understand the basic two-plate mould design and analyses. These include modelling, engineering analyses and validations using simulations in mould and part design.
-Students understand the mechanical and Rheological behaviours of plastic and apply the knowledge engineering designs.
