Competency aims
Competency goal/knowledge of occupational therapy:
- student gain knowledge and understanding for the complex connection between people's health, social context and occupational justice
- student understands the general view of health and how it affects the availability of public health service
- student demonstrates knowledge and understanding for how mental, social, attitudinal and cultural factors influence the clients ability to participate in daily activities
-student should be able to understand and assess the strength and the direction of the media influence on THE social construction of reality and OF relevant aspects of it
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
- discuss and reflect in groups with professionals from different areas and with professionals with different cultural background on issues related to quality of life for people that are in vulnerable positions in society
- understands and can explain the concepts and content of health, culture, quality of life, life balance, salutogenic perspective and occupational justice, be able to understand how the concepts relate to the clients performance of daily activities
- student should be able to recognize the power of media in the social construction of reality in particular meanings relating to health

The oral examination is based on a group work with a case. In order to get grade 1 (assessment scale 1 - 5) requires the student to define all the key concepts and that the student can connect concepts to the client`s occupational performance.
2. Written essay formed as a letter to the editor concerning a current theme, assessment: approved grade/ not approved grade
