Competency aims
The aim of the course is that the student gets an insight in the field of fitness testing in Finland. The student is provided both theoretical and practical view into the world of exercise testing and test physiology by conducting the tests practically by her/himself. The student can apply this know-how in order to promote health and physical activity and in order to plan training for different target groups. The student knows the basic values and the professional ethics in the field of fitness testning.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course it is expected that the student
- can perform the most common fitness tests
- is familiar with the testing equipment which is used in the most common fitness tests
- knows how to interpret the results of the most common fitness tests
- knows the contents, theoretical background and application areas of different test methods
- can choose suitable tests for different target groups
- knows his/her own responsibility when performing exercise tests
- knows what high-quality fitness testing means
