The aim of the course is that the
student is
able
to:
- Understand the prehospital chain of
care.
- Recognize the patients' condition and
start
EMT
level care.
- Adequately direct the patient
verbally and in
written text to further
care.
- Be able to assess the situaion and
call for
assistance or back-up if
necessary.
- Work with equipment used in EMT level
prehospital care
- Recognize and use the forms of
anesthesia
used
in prehospital care
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is
expected
to be able to:
- Meet and communicate with patients
and
relatives in a prehospital
setting.
- Understand the need for teamwork and
communication in a prehospital care
situation
- Work with the equipment in the
ambulance
- Have an understanding of the
Emergency
Dispatch
Center's role
- Adequately handle radio communication
in
prehospital settings.
- Be able to interpret and recognize
the most
common ECG rhythms.
- The student understands the
importance of
observing the
patient's vital signs, and knows how to
fix
problems in these.
- Perform quality and up-to-standards
BLS
resuscitation
- Be familiar with the different forms
of
anesthesia and the medication
used for that in a prehospital setting.
- The student knows in the
circumstances for
the
need to call for
assistance and back-up.
- Recognize and be aware of his/her
physical
level (strengths and weaknesses) as
well as
potential physical training needed to
be able
to uphold their ability to work

- EMT level prehospital care
- Interpretation of ECG
- Basics in laws relating to
prehospital care
