Competencies
The module includes the competence to work in
the occupational therapy process based on a
person-centered approach, to work for sustainable
health with an occupational science basis and to
work as a development and change agent. You have
advanced knowledge of partnership, encounters and
the importance of narrative in order to promote
meaningful activity and participation for
different people and groups in society. You have
in-depth knowledge of the profession's work
process that supports a structured and evidence-
based approach. You have in-depth knowledge of the
basic concepts of occupational science, especially
regarding the essence of occupation and its
relation to the persons everyday life, the
populations health, social context and the right
to be active in society. You also have in-depth
knowledge of the complex relationship between
person, activity and environment and its impact on
sustainable health in society. You have in-depth
knowledge of how different attitudes and decisions
in society affect peoples opportunities to be
active and participate in society. You can reflect
on ethical and sustainability issues in various
professional contexts. You understand and consider
cultural diversity and you take responsibility for
seeing the person in their own context. You can
reflect on development needs in activities within
your own professional area. The competence
described in the module is consolidated and
strengthened through practical application. The
module covers the general competencies ethical and
sustainability, local and global as well as
innovation and development competence.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:
You have knowledge of the underlying causes of the persons occupational challenges.
You have knowledge of cultural competence in occupational therapy.
You have knowledge of the development needs at the practical training.
You have knowledge about guidance in client work.

Skill:
You can use the person's narrative as a basis for interventions where the goal is to enable activity and participation.
You can, in consultation with the person, professionals and relatives choose activities and activity-based measures to enable participation in meaningful activities of everyday life that support participation in society.
You can plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions with the aim of promoting sustainable health.
You can identify imbalance in occupational opportunities in the person's living environment and give suggestions on how to reduce the imbalance.
You can with the help of your supervisor support a person?s occupational adaptation process.
As a basis for person-centered work are responsible creating a person-centered encounter with the person in his or her context.
You can make suggestions on and summarize a plan to support development within the organization.
Based on a specific area, you reflect on the perspective of sustainable health.
You use guidance as a method in client work.
