Additional information
Description of the course exercises and self-study assignments:
a) Storyboard task: Choose a scene from the script that was handed out during the course and make up a detailed storyboard for this. This naturally includes figuring out the scene structure, weight and turning points and try to optimize the visual narrative so that it supports what you want to convey in the scene you selected. We have reserved the entire 25 hours of work for this task so thoroughly take time to
read up on the script, do character analysis and consider what you think is important in the scene. Consider also like how you would instruct the actors in the scene. Enter detailed shot descriptions in the script.
To facilitate it for yourself then it is certainly also useful if you can also draw a floor plan of how the actors stand and move about in the room or in the environment you choose. Use some time alsoto consider how to best describe the results of your planning for Klaus and the other participants.
The storyboard task should be completed by the joint review with Klaus on Friday 28.3.
b) Film Analysis in groups (2-4 students per group). Choose any two movies, look through them a few times together and do a thorough analysis of the films imagery and dramaturgical
construction. Send in film since the analyzes for me and remember to write which ones were in the group. (Estimated Time: 24 hours, ie. 3 days).
c) Literature (individual work). Read Steven D. Katz book Shot by Shot. Choose any title on a topic that interests you and write a 3-6 page essay in which you
reflects on Katz's reasoning. Illuminate your subject with concrete examples from films you've seen or own assignments and you are very welcome also write down your own thoughts and reflections
it. Then send your essay to me with the assurance that you have read the whole book. For those of you who already read Shot by Shot is it also ok to get familiar with Katz's second book "Cinematic Motion", write your essay in that case on the basis of the contents of this. Both books are available in our library and
Also among others on Aralis. (Estimated Time: 60 h).
