Competency aims
The aim of the study unit is to give the student a
good general knowledge of the banking industry as
well as knowledge about products and services
offered to corporations and individuals.
This study unit consists of three separate online
courses, intended to be taken together. Students
should be able to work in or with the banking
industry after the course
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to understand the structures of the
banking industry, the role the industry plays in
society as well as the regulatory environment. The
student will have a good general knowledge of the
services provided by the banking industry to
corporations and to individuals.

The role of banks in society
Introduction to banking services
The regulatory environment
Corporate Banking (part 2):
Payment processing services
Services for international operations
Loans and funding
Factoring and leasing
Other corporate services and products
Personal and Private banking (part 3):
Payment processing services and cards
Loans and mortgages
Investment and savings products
Mutual funds
Prerequisites and co-requisites
A general theoretical knowledge of business
administration or entrepreneurship is required
(5 ects basic level course OR practical experience).
Students with inadequate background may be removed
from the course.

and Personal and Private Banking 5 cr.
Recommended or required reading
The literature will consist mainly of articles on
the banking industry. The full literature list will
be published in the course material.

Assessment requirements
For each one of the three parts, the examination
consists of 5 online quizes (25 points), 5 learning
diaries (25 points) and a final report (50 points).
To pass, a total minimum of 150 points must be
obtained.
