Introduction to SolidWorks, user interface, options and basic sketching techniques

Technical Drawing - Students are assumed to be able to produce orthographic drawings using engineering software such as AutoCAD when they begin.

This course was formerly called Solid Modelling. Students who have passed Solid Modelling may not take this course.

Assessment requirements

Assessment:

Submission of the "Introduction to SolidWorks Tutorial" (10%)

Submission of individual assignment Design of a Chair (90%). Note Urkund will be used to analyze these reports for similarity. Correct scientific writing skills are a very important consideration in the assessment. It is not based on just the engineering design work.

There is no compulsory attendance of lectures for this course. Although attendance is recommended, students may choose to complete all work entirely individually also.

Passed assignment marks can not be improved by resubmitting marked reports.
