Competency aims
The aim of the course is to give the student a
basic
knowledge of Finnish and ability to manage in
everyday
situations, to practice the pronunciation and
vocabulary by reading everyday life texts.
Learning outcomes
You will have knowledge about pronunciation, basic
vocabulary for everyday situations and simple
grammar.

(infinitive and present tense)
? Days of the week, time, numbers, expressions
? Numbers, dates and time
You have a basic knowledge about Finland, the
Finnish society and culture.
Skills
? You are able to handle every day situations in
Finnish and cope in familiar social situations.
? You can introduce yourself and your family.
? In a discussion you know how to ask you the
person you discuss with to repeat and speak more
slowly.
? You can write short messages using familiar
expressions.
? You can form simple sentences and questions and
use polite expressions both in spoken and written
language in present tense.
Attitude
It´s easier to learn a new language when you get
advice about more effective ways to learn the
language in authentic everyday situations.
