Competency aims
The strategic management process helps organisations
identify what they intent to achieve and
how they will accomplish valued outcomes. Why some firms
suceed while others fail and why firms have varying levels of
performance, will be discussed, as well as other aspects of
strategic management.
After having successfully completed the course the student
should be able to analyse business strategies and draw up a
strategy for a small or a medium sized firm.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students should be familiar with
the process of strategic decision making in business, be able
to analyse business decisions, and make make informed
decisions on the basis of unstructured and fuzzy information.

is, however, obligatory during the discussion sessions,
presentations, as well as participation in possible company
visits. Notice will be given of these sessions in advance. The
case study method will be used.
