Students
- know how to execute parenteral hydration and
nutrition treatment and pharmacotherapy in acute
nursing
- know how to execute enteral nutrition in the
treatment of a chronically ill patient
- know how to apply information in preparing and
guiding patients before a surgery and in the most
common surgery and anaesthesia operations as well
as observation and nursing after surgeries
- know how to use the check lists in an operating
room
- are familiar with the principles of advanced
life support
- are familiar with equipment technology and
patient safety
- know how to justify their actions with up-to-
date research data and care recommendations
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is for the student to develop
their clinical competence in internal medicine and
the surgical patient's care
Course contents
-Nursing process of an internal disease patient,
perioperative patient and cancer patient
- parenteral and enteral hydration and nutrition
treatment and pharmacotherapy, blood transfusion,
sampling
- assisting in surgical operations
- advanced life support
- equipment technology and patient safety
- prevention of infections and aseptics
- decision-making and teamwork competence
