Competency aims

The aim of the course is is that the student becomes
aware of
cultural expressions from different times and get an idea
of the
different activities in visual culture.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student is expected to
be
able:
a) to know how the style and genre affects the content of
visual culture
b) to know the concepts style, genre, visual culture, art
and
art as well as film history
c) To work with the images, analyze and critically
evaluate an
image based on color and shape, and reflect on its
ideational
content.
d) have an understanding of art- and mediahistory
e) to comply with the current debate

Course contents

Visual images are ubiquitous. They appear in paintings,
prints and drawings, in broadcast television, in movies, in
advertising campaigns and different visual expressions
such
as fashion and design. We move daily through a living
photo
album. This course seeks to introduce students to visual
culture so that they are able to better understand,
analyse
and produce images in their work.
In order to get the most effective learning experience,
you
will be asked to engage with a variety of educational
tools. In
the beginning, go through all the lectures online. These
provide data into the arts and images rich diversity, as
well as
the methods and theories developed for people to better
understand them. Here, you will learn the basics of image
analysis, gain insight into art history and visual culture
and
techniques. You will be visiting the exhibitions
independently,
allowing you to immerse yourself in image analysis and
art
history by making three tasks about art and artists that
you
choose yourself. You will receive guidance in this work
individually and / or collectively.
