After a completed course the student is expected
to be able to
-Describe the role of business activity for the
society and owners of businesses
-Design an organizational structure for a
business
-Name some of the most important laws that
concern businesses in Finland and seek answers
to elementary queries about the legislation
-Describe what a business plan is and what
elements it typically consists of
-Explain how a business takes care of its day-
to-day finances, makes simple profitability
calculations and explain what annual accounts
include.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give the student
basic knowledge of business administration and
the role of business activity for the society
and business owners.
The student familiarizes himself/herself with
the relevant legislation in this area.
The student familiarizes himself/herself with
how to organize a business.
The course provides elementary skills in
corporate profitability and planning.

relevant legislation
- basics of corporate analysis

Assessment requirements
To pass the course the student needs 50% of the
total points. The course can be passed by
passing four part-exams, each giving 20 points,
or by passing a final exam giving 80 points.
Attendance amounts to 20 points. The part-exams
are one chance only, for the final exam there
are re-exams.
