Competency aims

The aim of the course is to present and train to use different
quantitative research methods, such as surveys and experiments.

Learning outcomes

The student will learn how to define a quantitative research
problem, how to create a measurement instrument based on
prior knowledge, or literature, how to sample respondents, how
to analyze data quantitatively with SPSS and how present the
results ina written report.

Course contents

The research process for quantitative studies: measurement
instruments, questionnaires, implementing a study trough
different media including web studies, coding of data, analyzing
of data using descriptive statistics, chi square, correlation-
regression-, factor-, cluster-, mds-, conjoint and similar
methods. How to present the results in a written report.

Assessment requirements

To pass the course the student should pass the following
Examination 1 computer assignments.
Examination 2 written examination on quantitative methods and
ability to interpret results.

No mandatory attendance on lectures. If a lecture is missed the
student is supposed to individually learn what was taught,
special repetitions of missed lectures are not given.
(examinations include written examination tests, demonstrations
and presentations, reports and produktions, essays, and also
presence at specified occasions)

The examinations contribute to the final grade as follows: 50%
for assignments and 50% for examination.
