Information about studies during autumn term 2020
Due to the continuing uncertain situation in the world with the Covid-19 epidemic, we would like to inform you that at this stage we will be using mostly online solutions this autumn. Most of the lecture groups in our department are large and we are therefore currently planning to offer our lectures online. However, lectures will be held according to the existing timetable and we expect all students to actively participate in them. During the autumn we will also offer workshops and small group assignments on campus. If you cannot attend these on-campus activities due to the Covid-19 situation, you will be able to attend remotely in agreement with the examiner. All students are expected to participate actively during the courses and our teachers will support you in your learning process online and to help you form important networks with students and companies. Our department will offer you continuous interaction online, and also on campus as much as possible, during the autumn semester. Arcada’s library, student dining and campus will most likely be open for student use in the autumn, enabling student interaction.
It is most important that you attend the online lectures, especially the introductory lecture, to get all the information you will need. For those of you who are attending from abroad, the lecture times might be uncomfortable but we urge you to attend as you will have difficulties in reaching your needed credits for the study year if you miss classes. Remember to ask for extra help if needed. Help can be provided online or on campus depending on the situation and the persons involved. Always remember to stay at home if you are feeling sick and please when on campus respect the given rules at all times.
We hope to be going back to normal on-campus activities as soon as the situation allows it and will hopefully increase on-campus activities during period 2. If you are abroad and attending everything online please be prepared to attend on-campus lectures from January 2021 - during the autumn we will offer you the possibility to attend everything online.
We are continuously monitoring the situation and will get back to you with more specific information as soon as the situation changes.
If you have questions contact your degree program director Susanna Fabricius (IB). Our amanuensis Camilla Genberg can also answer your questions.
