Frequently asked questions about tuition fees and scholarships

I am unable to make the tuition fee payment before the deadline and need additional time. What should I do?

Contact studentaffairs@arcada.fi, we will assess your situation.

If you are unable to make the payment before the deadline, we ask you to register as absent. You will receive the link to the form from us by e-mail. We request that you register as absent because SISU requires you to be registered as either present or absent when the term changes; otherwise, you will lose your study right. Registering as absent thus prevents your study right from being deactivated in the system.

Please note that we can change your registration for the academic year/term to present at any time during the year, and we will do so as soon as we have received and recorded your payment in our system.

Also note that you may not participate in teaching before your tuition fee has been paid and registered in our system. We therefore encourage you to make your payment well in advance of the deadline to ensure the process proceeds as smoothly as possible.

I will not be able to submit a scholarship application by the deadline (due to missing credits in Sisu). What should I do?

Contact studentaffairs@arcada.fi

In certain situations you may submit a scholarship application after the deadline, but please note that processing times are longer during the summer. You will need to wait longer than usual for a decision. This may also mean that you will have to pay the full fee for the autumn term, which can then be offset against the tuition fee for the spring term if your scholarship is granted.

I want to register as absent for only one term, does it affect my scholarship? What should I do?

Yes, it might affect your chances to receive a scholarship since you need to usually complete one year's studies in one term. We do not recommend registering as absent for only one termdue to this reason. Make sure to contact Migri and check if your absence affects your residence permit.

I want to register as absent for the whole academic year, does it affect my scholarship? What should I do?

If you fulfill the requirements for the scholarship you will need to apply for the scholarship during the application period before your leave of absence. After your leave of absence you need to reapply to use the previously granted scholarship. Make sure to contact Migri and check if your absence affects your residence permit.

I have been registered as absent for a year, but I was granted a scholarship before that. Can I use it now that I am back?

You can most likely use your scholarship now, but please check once more with studentaffairs@arcada.fi. Please note that if you have been absent for an entire academic year and wish to use the scholarship you were previously granted, you must submit a new scholarship application. In the application, state that you were granted a scholarship earlier but were absent and now intend to make use of the previously awarded scholarship.

I have been granted a scholarship. I’ll study only one term next year. May I use half then and the rest the next academic year?

No. If you are present for only one term (either autumn or spring, half of the academic year) and absent for the other, your scholarship is considered used, and you must apply for a new one for the following academic year. Please keep this in mind when planning your studies.

I am an online path student, can I receive a scholarship?

As an online path student, you may be eligible for a scholarship if you have completed studies for the entire academic year (two terms) at Arcada, and meet the scholarship requirements that applied in the year when your study right commenced.

I came to Arcada as a transfer student, can I receive a scholarship?

If you started your studies at Arcada in autumn 2025, then you may be eligible for a scholarship if you have completed studies for the entire academic year (two terms) at Arcada, and meet the scholarship requirements that applied in the year when your study right commenced at Arcada.

My payment has reached Arcada, but I am still unable to activate my student card. What is the issue?

Please take into account the time it takes for us to process the payment and register you as present in Sisu (you can find information about our processing time on this page). After this, it still takes a few days before the information is registered in the national VIRTA or KOSKI education and training data service. If you are still experiencing problems, please contact studentaffairs@arcada.fi.
