Guidance and study support

You are welcome to contact us if you would like to discuss anything that affects your studies or your everyday student life. We can support you with, for example:

  • Study skills – planning, motivation, time management and stress management.
  • Career guidance – questions about your studies, future career or personal circumstances.
  • Individual study arrangements – guidance and certificates for students with, for example, dyslexia, ADHD/ADD, mental health challenges, visual, hearing or mobility impairments, illness or injury.

All conversations are confidential. If involving someone else could help your situation, we will always ask for your consent first.

Do you need individual study arrangements?

If a disability, illness or another challenge affects your studies, you may be entitled to individual study arrangements.

This may include, for example:

  • dyslexia or other learning difficulties
  • ADHD/ADD
  • mental health challenges
  • visual, hearing or mobility impairments
  • illness or injury

The arrangements are tailored to your individual needs and may include:

  • additional time in examinations
  • the use of a computer or other assistive technology
  • alternative forms of assessment

The purpose of these arrangements is to provide equal opportunities for all students. The academic requirements for your degree remain the same.

How to apply for individual study arrangements

If you already have certificate for example dyslexia, you can contact the psychologist to discuss which study arrangements would best support your studies at Arcada and get a certificate.

Each September, we also organise an information session for students who have questions or need a certificate for Arcada.

If you do not have any documentation or certificate from before, or if you have other difficulties that affect your studies, you can book an appointment for an assessment of your support needs at student healthcare (FSHS).

Once your support needs have been assessed, you will receive a Certificate for Individual Arrangements. The certificate is valid throughout your studies at Arcada.

To receive support in a course, you must contact the course examiner no later than three weeks after the start of the course to discuss the arrangements you need.
