Fragrance sensitivity can cause several negative health effects that affect work and study performance. Show consideration by avoiding scented products on Arcada’s campus.

Approximately 10-40% of the adult population develops fragrance sensitivity. According to the Organisation for Respiratory Health in Finland, fragrance sensitivity has a significant impact on the lives of around 500,000 people in Finland.

Symptoms can be severe, such as difficulty breathing, coughing, itching, headaches, dizziness and fatigue.

As there is no medical treatment for fragrance sensitivity, it is important that we all do our part by avoiding perfume and perfumed products. This is particularly important in environments where many people are present.

Show consideration

At Arcada, many people use scented products daily. When many different scents are mixed, the symptoms can be particularly severe for sensitive people, but also affect anyone.

For everyone's well-being, we kindly ask everyone at Arcada to review their use of fragrances and scented products. Everyone has the right to a scent-free work and study environment.
