The Board of Arcada University of Applied Sciences Ltd has decided to initiate change negotiations that apply to all employees. The decision was made on financial grounds and based on the need for concrete measures to reduce costs.
During its meeting of 24.3.2025, the Board concluded that Arcada’s financial development is unsustainable. Concrete measures to reduce costs are inevitable. This means measures to reduce personnel costs. Therefore, change negotiations will begin on 31.3.2025.
Basis for the change negotiations
The Board has instructed the Rector to open restructuring negotiations with the aim of saving 600 000 euros in 2025 and, in the longer term, 900 000 euros on an annual basis.
A preliminary estimate is that personnel consequences in the form of redundancies apply to 16 employees, and other personnel consequences, such as significant changes in tasks, transfers to part-time employment or change of other essential terms in the employment contract may affect an additional 20 employees. The change negotiations apply to all staff.
The process and further communication
The first negotiation is held on 31 March and the negotiations last at least six weeks. The board of Arcada student union – ASK meets the Rector on the day of the negotiations. They will then agree on further communication between Arcada and ASK.
